Active Cities

Active Cities:
Active Cities is a transnational project under the Interreg North Sea Programme designed to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among urban populations. The project addresses challenges related to sedentary behaviour, social inclusion, and public health by implementing evidence-based interventions, community engagement activities, and innovative urban planning approaches. Through collaboration with municipalities, NGOs, health authorities, and local stakeholders, Active Cities aims to create active, inclusive, and socially cohesive urban environments that improve citizens’ well-being and foster sustainable, health-promoting city ecosystems.

OUTPUTS:
• Development and implementation of pilot programs to promote physical activity in cities.
• Creation of guidelines and toolkits for municipalities to integrate active lifestyle initiatives into urban planning.
• Training and workshops for local stakeholders to support sustainable community engagement.
• Knowledge-sharing platforms connecting municipalities, NGOs, and citizens to foster collaboration.
• Monitoring and evaluation reports to assess the impact of active lifestyle interventions on public health and social inclusion.
