Active Cities:
Active Cities is a transnational project under the Interreg North Sea Programme designed to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among urban populations. The project addresses challenges related to sedentary behaviour, social inclusion, and public health by implementing evidence-based interventions, community engagement activities, and innovative urban planning approaches. Through collaboration with municipalities, NGOs, health authorities, and local stakeholders, Active Cities aims to create active, inclusive, and socially cohesive urban environments that improve citizens’ well-being and foster sustainable, health-promoting city ecosystems.
Active Cities advances social innovation and social entrepreneurship by co-creating, testing, and scaling community-led solutions for active mobility and healthier lifestyles, enabling local actors, social enterprises, and municipalities to deliver inclusive, people-centred urban change.
