BioFarms Cluster (BFC):
BioFarms Cluster (BFC) is a transnational cooperation project under the Interreg IPA ADRION Programme that fosters innovation and sustainable value creation across agri-food and bio-based sectors in the Adriatic-Ionian region. The initiative mobilises a diverse partnership of academic institutions, regional development agencies, SMEs and innovation hubs to build a transnational cluster capable of transforming agri-food by-products and wild plant species into high-value applications for nutraceutical, biopharmaceutical and other advanced markets. BFC supports knowledge exchange, technology transfer and capacity building across the value chain, enhances competitiveness for small and medium enterprises, and integrates circular economy and smart specialisation strategies. Through local innovation nodes, pilot actions, and collaborative business model development, the project strengthens regional bioeconomy ecosystems and supports sustainable rural growth.
BFC advances social innovation and social entrepreneurship by supporting small businesses, cooperatives, and local actors to develop circular and sustainable blue economy solutions, strengthening cross-sector collaboration and inclusive economic development in coastal and Adriatic-Ionian regions.
